I ordered the ‘scope March 30 and received it Apr&#105&#108&#327. Not negative for a product which was supposed t&#111&#32&#115hip at the end of April. Some damage to the outer &#99&#97&#114ton thanks to FedEx, but both ‘scopes (I ordered two) had been u&#110&#100&#97maaged. No assembly needed – just slip in 1 of the eye pieces an&#100&#32&#105t’s ready to go. The manual (one paragraph) was not required, bu&#116&#32&#97 individual new to astronomical telescopes will de&#102&#105&#110itely wish to get some much better documentation. &#84&#104&#101 ‘scope is superior than I expected for $50. It appears to be we&#108&#108&#32made – the eyepieces usually are not truly good, but what can yo&#117&#32&#101xpect for this price. The alt/az movements are exc&#101&#108&#108ent. The alt has adjustable tension. Az is most li&#107&#101&#108y adjustable via the principal axis nut, but I did&#110’t mess with &#105&#116&#32– the movement is fine as-is.

Regrettably, we have had no clear &#110&#105&#103hts within the Pacific Northwest because the ‘scopes arrived (wh&#97&#116&#32else is new). A fast test on trees about 200 meter&#115&#32&#100istant resulted in great views. Note the secondary&#32&#109&#105rror does cause a dark spot if your eye will not b&#101&#32&#97ligned correctly.

I’m looking forward to clear skies, but the lo&#110&#103&#32range <s></s>forecast just isn’t excellent.

Mike

April 21 – OK, last evening was the &#105&#110&#105tial clear evening given that I g<s></s>ot the ‘scope. I viewed Saturn,&#32&#97&#110d even though the ‘scope short focal length means lower magnific&#97&#116&#105on, with the integrated 4mm lens (approx. 70X), th&#101&#32&#114ings had been visible. The ‘scope handled well, and handled a bi&#103&#44&#32heavy lens I have with no troubles. I had my 10″ dob out also, a&#110&#100&#32of course the dob gave a better view, but I enjoye&#100&#32&#117tilizing the little ‘scope for scanning the sky. No moon up when&#32&#73&#32was out, so could not see how it looks. The 21024 &#109&#111&#117nt is stable, and moved smoothly. I tried the inte&#103&#114&#97ted lenses, and then some much better lenses from &#77&#101&#97de and Orion. These performed better, but the inco&#114&#112&#111rated lenses will not be poor for a very first sco&#112&#101&#46

This review is from:Â Celestron 21024 FirstScope T&#101&#108&#101scope

I’ve always wanted a light-weight telescope for some quick&#32&#103&#114ab-n-go viewing. This is the ideal scope for that &#112&#117&#114pose. I was able to see the edge-on rings of Satur&#110&#32&#117nder a light pole near my house at night. With a g&#111&#111&#100 Barlow, you can even see some details on Saturn.

&#79&#110&#32the first night I had the telescope, I also did so&#109&#101&#32quick viewing of Mars and Venus. Venus was clearly&#32&#105&#110 a crescent shape, while Mars shows a small disk.

&#79&#118&#101rall, this is a great telescope for its price. I h&#97&#118&#101 another high-end telescope, but I find that drivi&#110&#103&#32to a dark-sky site to utilize all the big-scope po&#116&#101&#110tials could be troublesome at times. When you need&#32&#115&#111me quick looking at an object, this is ideal.

The &#111&#110&#108y problem I have with this telescope is its includ&#101&#100&#32eyepieces. They are Huygens eyepieces, not as good&#32&#97&#115 Plossls. But if you have some other good eyepiece&#115&#44&#32you can easily substitute them. Also, I highly rec&#111&#109&#109end getting a good Barlow for planetary viewings.

&#79&#118&#101rall, I really enjoyed this little scope. I have y&#101&#116&#32to bring it to a dark site to enjoy its wide-angle&#32&#100&#101ep sky viewings of the summer milky way, but I’m sure it’ll be great.

However,&#32&#105&#102 you want to stimulate interests in kids about ast&#114&#111&#110omy, you might want to consider slightly larger te&#108&#101&#115copes like the Orion XT6. This is more for people &#119&#104&#111’re already familiar with astronomy to just get some casual obse&#114&#118&#97tions done at home.

This review is from:Â Celestron 21024 FirstScope T&#101&#108&#101scope

I’ve usually wanted a light-weight telescope for some spee&#100&#121&#32grab-n-go viewing. This is the ideal scope for tha&#116&#32&#112urpose. I was able to see the edge-on rings of Sat&#117&#114&#110 under a light pole near my<s></s> home at evening. With &#97&#32&#103reat Barlow, you can even see some details on Satu&#114&#110&#46

On the first night I had the telescope, I also di&#100&#32&#115ome swift viewing of Mars and Venus. Venus was cle&#97&#114&#108y in a crescent shape, while Mars shows a little d&#105&#115&#107.

Overall, this is a excellent telescope for its p&#114&#105&#99e. I’ve another high-end telescope, but I find that driving to a&#32&#100&#97rk-sky internet site to utilize all the big-scope &#112&#111&#116entials could be troublesome at times. When you ne&#101&#100&#32some rapid looking at an object, this really is pe&#114&#102&#101ct.

The only problem I’ve with this telescope is its included ey&#101&#112&#105eces<s></s>. They’re Huygens eyepieces, not as excellent as Plossls. Bu&#116&#32&#105f you’ve some other good eyepieces, you can quickly substitute t&#104&#101&#109. Also, I highly recommend getting a good Barlow f&#111&#114&#32planetary viewings.

General, I genuinely enjoyed t&#104&#105&#115 little scope. I’ve yet to bring it to a dark <s></s>web site to enjoy &#105&#116&#115 wide-angle deep sky viewings of the summer milky &#119&#97&#121, but I’m certain it’ll be good.

Nonetheless, in case you need to stimulate in&#116&#101&#114ests in children about astronomy, you may desire t&#111&#32&#116hink about slightly larger telescopes like the Ori&#111&#110&#32XT6. This really is far more for persons who’re already familiar&#32&#119&#105th astronomy to just get some casual observations &#100&#111&#110e at residence.

A&#102&#116&#101r many years of wanting a telescope, I was very pl&#101&#97&#115ed to find the Celestron Firstscope for such a rea&#115&#111&#110able price. It made trying to be a hobbyist astron&#111&#109&#101r a little less daunting, and it’s a great way to start. My firs&#116&#32&#110ight with my telescope I looked at the moon from m&#121&#32&#98edroom window and was instantly pleased and knew I&#32&#119&#97nted more out of this little telescope.

I can’t really think of &#97&#32&#99on with this telescope, for the price, you get mor&#101&#32&#116han what you expect and it’s definitely a great value.

I would r&#101&#99&#111mmend a moon filter and a barlow lense just to giv&#101&#32&#116he telescope a little push to the top so that you &#114&#101&#97lly get the full experience of star gazing. Withou&#116&#32&#105t, the moon will look a little fuzzy and definitel&#121&#32&#98e a little too bright to fully enjoy and watch for&#32&#97&#32long time. A barlow lense will give you a greater &#111&#112&#112ortunity to see more of what the night sky has to &#111&#102&#102er.

Overall, I am very pleased with this telescope&#32&#97&#110d would definitely give it as a gift to someone wi&#116&#104&#32an emerging interest in astronom<s></s>y, or someone with&#32&#97&#32really great view of the night sky.

F&#105&#114&#115t of all I’ve just started amature astronomy this year so I’ve never owned a t&#101&#108&#101scope, I’ve been applying a 15×70 celestron binocular on a tripod. I’ve had the Celestron Fir&#115&#116&#115cope for a couple of weeks now and I’ve been please with it..con&#115&#105&#100ering how much I paid for it (big bang for the buc&#107&#41&#46 Anyway, I know a lot of people suggest not to inv&#101&#115&#116 in the accessory but one thing I learn when I att&#101&#110&#100ed a star party prior to purchasing this telescope&#32&#105&#115 Finder Scope is incredibly useful/important when &#116&#114&#121ing to align your scope having a specific object. &#83&#111&#32I did buy the accessory, and <s></s>I’m glad I did. Despite the fact th&#97&#116&#32it’s true that using the finder scope is tricky to use if you ha&#118&#101&#32the telescope on best of a table or the ground, so&#32&#119&#104at I did is I seem around my h<s></s>ouse which is tall e&#110&#111&#117gh that I can put it on best and I discovered an o&#108&#100&#32cd rack within the garage that is about 5 feet tal&#108&#46&#32It was incredibly sturdy and produced making use o&#102&#32&#116he telescope so easy using the finder scope.

While&#32&#117&#115ing the eyepiece that came while using telescope a&#110&#100&#32accessory everybody who said that they’re useless…they are correct, those sort&#32&#111&#102 eyepiece are genuinely tough to seem into and may&#32&#112&#101rhaps disappoint you. So what I did is I baught a &#50&#120&#32Barlow and a 25mm plossl eyepeice from Orion as we&#108&#108&#32as the diffrence are night and day, while using th&#101&#32&#101yepiece I purchase it made field of view very much&#32&#99&#108ear, crisp and I saw far more stars. So far I’ve been out observ&#105&#110&#103 and star gazing as significantly as I could and a&#115&#32&#97 great deal as the weather permits. The moon by me&#97&#110&#115 of this telescope while using 25mm and 2x barlow &#101&#121&#112iece looks awesome the craters are incredibly clea&#114&#44&#32mars look like a tiny orange dot and saturn…so far same as mars &#97&#112&#112earance like a dot maybe using a medium or higher &#112&#111&#119er eyepiece I might be able to see saturns ring. O&#118&#101&#114all great <s></s>acquire specially for a starter like me,&#32&#73&#32will most likely use this until I’m ready to move to the next le&#118&#101&#108 at least now I can save up to a much powerful and&#32&#104&#105gh priced telescope.

This review is from:Â Celestron 21024 FirstScope Telescope

I&#32&#104&#97ve usually been a star gazer, and I wanted to be a&#98&#108&#101 to share the hobby with my nephew and niece. I fo&#117&#110&#100 this telescope after some research, and heard som&#101&#32&#105ncredible things about it. I decided instantly to &#112&#117&#114chase it. I was excited to see how easy it was to &#117&#115&#101, and I wasn’t disappointed. Even without having a finder scope,&#32&#73&#32was able to very easily uncover objects inside the&#32&#110&#105ght sky by aiming down the left side of the tube u&#115&#105&#110g the finder scope mounts like a gun sight. This, &#99&#111&#109bined while using 20mm (15x) eyepiece made it incr&#101&#100&#105bly straightforward to locate what I was searching&#32&#102&#111r. My advice for a person just starting with this &#116&#101&#108escope: Practice locating your objects while using&#32&#50&#48mm eyepiece over and more than till you can do it &#101&#102&#102iciently. Once the object is inside middle of your&#32&#102&#105eld of view, you will be safe to throw in a higher&#32&#109&#97gnification eyepiece.

Unlike cheap department stor&#101&#32&#116elescopes, the rotating mount is incredibly stable&#32&#97&#110d only blurs for about 2-3 seconds when tapped. Al&#115&#111&#44 the mount enables for simple tracking with its bu&#116&#116&#101r-smooth rotation. I could not be any happier whil&#101&#32&#117sing the ease of use of this powerful minor telesc&#111&#112&#101.

Now, the fine part:

With a little telescope like&#32&#116&#104is, don’t be expecting Saturn to fill the field of view, but do &#101&#120&#112ect to see the rings with all the 4mm eyepiece. Yo&#117&#32&#119ill need to focus quite slowly and carefully for t&#104&#101&#32greatest results. Jupiter is also an awesome sight&#32&#97&#115 a result of this small guy, with 4 moons incredib&#108&#121&#32visible. Also, viewing the moon is a pure pleasure&#32&#97&#115 a result of either on the two packaged eyepieces.&#32&#84&#104e craters are clear, and also the contrast is fant&#97&#115&#116ic. It also resolved the Andromeda galaxy fairly w&#101&#108&#108 in lower lighting away from the city. Just a quic&#107&#32&#112ass via the arm in the Milky Way provided an amazi&#110&#103&#32view of thousands of stars.

For even greater views&#32&#102&#114om the brighter objects (Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, as&#32&#119&#101ll as the Andromeda galaxy) I use the Celestron Om&#110&#105&#322x Barlow Lens (1.25″) which effectively doubles the magnificati&#111&#110&#32of any eyepiece. This is one of only two Barlow le&#110&#115&#101s that Celestron recommends for this scope due to &#105&#116&#115 short focal length. I was surprised by how little&#32&#108&#105ght was lost when utilizing this barlow, and also &#116&#104&#101 views are even much more incredible.

You can find&#32&#111&#110ly a few complaints that I can muster. The primary&#32&#109&#105rror is just not adjustable, so collimation on the&#32&#111&#112tics isn’t easily possible. The eyepieces are adequate, however &#121&#111&#117 may possibly need to invest is some higher good q&#117&#97&#108ity Plossl eyep<s></s>ieces for simpler viewing.

All-in-a&#108&#108&#44 you will not come across a greater telescope for &#116&#104&#101 cash ANYWHERE. I am accustomed to 6-10 inch teles&#99&#111&#112es, and this tiny 3-inch blew my socks off. It sta&#121&#115&#32in my car nearly everywhere I go, and I’m not afraid to take it &#111&#117&#116 with crazy children all above the place wanting t&#111&#32&#108ook as a result of it. My wife loves it, my niece &#97&#110&#100 nephew adore it, and admittedly..
.I really like &#105&#116&#46 I can’t wait until my youngsters get their introduction to astr&#111&#110&#111my with this gem. Celestron genuinely went out of &#116&#104&#101ir solution to create something unique. What a sol&#117&#116&#105on to jump-start the minds of this upcoming genera&#116&#105&#111n!

A friend recommended this so I decide&#100&#32&#116o purchase this (for $50, I can’t go wrong). I was skeptical at &#118&#101&#114y first but that went away when I unpacked this.

T&#104&#101&#32telescope is 3″ which is much better than the 60mm telescope one&#32&#117&#115ually sees in this selling price range. It came wi&#116&#104&#322 decent eyepieces (2 decent eyepieces by themselv&#101&#115&#32already costs around $40 – $50). It was quick to put together as&#32&#105&#116 was ready to use out of the box. For the price ta&#103&#32&#73 paid, the base was well made like a dobsonian. It&#32&#104&#97d a smooth swiveling motion in order that I can qu&#105&#99&#107ly point it at celestial objec<s></s>ts and tracking it b&#121&#32&#103ently pushing the tube.

I was able to see Jupiter &#97&#110&#100 its moons, Saturn, craters on the moon and on a c&#108&#101&#97r night the Orion nebula. The images were brighter&#32&#119&#104en I compared it to my friends 60mm telescope beca&#115&#117&#101 this is a 76mm telescope. I am really pleased wit&#104&#32&#109y experience with this telescope<s></s> and the value is &#102&#97&#110tastic. It doesn’t take long to set up so when I feel like just &#103&#111&#105ng out<s></s>side to take a look at a celestial object, i&#32&#99&#97n simply do it. My 9 year old daughter loves it as&#32&#119&#101ll.

Absolutely a telescope I would suggest to anyo&#110&#101&#32who is interested in looking at the night skies.

This sort of te&#108&#101&#115cope is typical for amateur astronomers because yo&#117&#32&#103et the biggest “bang for your buck.” Upgrading to a larger Dobsonian mount soo&#110&#32&#97fter using this beginning one are going to be a br&#101&#101&#122e.

This review is from:Â Celestron 21024 FirstScope T&#101&#108&#101scope

1st of all I’ve just started amature astronomy this year s&#111&#32&#73’ve never owned a telescope, I’ve been utilizing a 15×70 celestron binocular on a tripod. I’ve had the Cele&#115&#116&#114on Firstscope for a couple of weeks now and I’ve been please wit&#104&#32&#105t..thinking about how very much I paid for it (big&#32&#98&#97ng for the buck). Anyway, I know a lot of persons &#115&#117&#103gest not to obtain the accessory but one thing I l&#101&#97&#114n when I attended a star party prior to purchasing&#32&#116&#104is telescope is Finder Scope is quite useful/impor&#116&#97&#110t when trying to align your scope with a specific &#111&#98&#106ect. So I did obtain the accessory, and I’m glad I did. Even tho&#117&#103&#104 it’s true that employing the finder scope is tricky to use if y&#111&#117&#32hav<s></s>e the telescope on top of a table or the ground&#44&#32&#115o what I did is I glimpse around my house that may&#32&#98&#101 tall enough that I can put it on top and I discov&#101&#114&#101d an old cd rack within the garage that’s about 5 feet tall. It &#119&#97&#115 quite sturdy and made applying the telescope so s&#105&#109&#112le while using finder scope.

Using the eyepiece th&#97&#116&#32came while using telescope and accessory everyone &#119&#104&#111 said that they are useless…they are correct, <s></s>those sort of eyep&#105&#101&#99e are really tough to appear into and may disappoi&#110&#116&#32you. So what I did is I baught a 2x Barlow and a 2&#53&#109&#109 plossl eyepeice from Orion as well as the diffren&#99&#101&#32are night and day, while using the eyepiece I purc&#104&#97&#115e it ma<s></s>de field of view much clear, crisp and I sa&#119&#32&#109ore stars. So far I’ve been out observing and star gazing as ver&#121&#32&#109uch as I could and as significantly as the weather&#32&#112&#101rmits. The moon via this telescope while using 25m&#109&#32&#97nd 2x barlow eypiece looks awesome the craters are&#32&#114&#101ally clear, mars appear like a tiny orange dot and&#32&#115&#97turn…so far same as mars seem like a dot maybe with a medium or &#104&#105&#103her power eyepiece I may well be abl<s></s>e to see satur&#110&#115&#32ring. Overall fantastic purchase specially for a s&#116&#97&#114ter like me, I will most likely use this until I’m ready to move&#32&#116&#111 the next level at least now I can save up to a ve&#114&#121&#32much powerful and expensive telescope.

This review is from: Celestron 21024 FirstScope Te&#108&#101&#115cope

I have generally been a star gazer, and I wan&#116&#101&#100 to be able to share the hobby with my nephew and &#110&#105&#101<s></s>ce. I discovered this telescope after some researc&#104&#44&#32and heard some wonderful things about it. I decide&#100&#32&#114ight away to buy it. I was excited to see how unco&#109&#112&#108i<s></s>cated it was to use, and I wasn’t disappointed. Even without a &#102&#105&#110der scope, I was in a position to effortlessly loc&#97&#116&#101 objects within the night sky by aiming down the l&#101&#102&#116 side in the tube using the finder scope mounts li&#107&#101&#32a gun sight. This, combined using the 20mm (15x) e&#121&#101&#112iece made it quite basic to locate what I was tryi&#110&#103&#32to find. My advice for a person just starting with&#32&#116&#104is telescope: Practice locating your objects while&#32&#117&#115ing the 20mm eyepiece more than and over until you&#32&#97&#114e able to do it efficiently. Once the object is in&#115&#105&#100e middle of your field of view, you is going to be&#32&#115&#97fe to throw in a increased magnification eyepiece.
&#10
&#85&#110like cheap department store telescopes, the rotati&#110&#103&#32mount is incredibly stable and only blurs for abou&#116&#32&#50-3 seconds when tapped. Also, the mount makes it p&#111&#115&#115ible f<s></s>or for easy tracking with its butter-smooth &#114&#111&#116ation. I could not be any happier with the ease of&#32&#117&#115e of this powerful little telescope.

Now, the fine&#32&#112&#97rt:

With a small telescope like this, do not be ex&#112&#101&#99ting Saturn to fill the field of view, but do expe&#99&#116&#32to see the rings with all the 4mm eyepiece. You ar&#101&#32&#103oing to have to focus quite slowly and carefully f&#111&#114&#32the best results. Jupiter is also an awesome sight&#32&#98&#121 means of this tiny guy, with 4 moons extremely vi&#115&#105&#98le. Also, viewing the moon is really a pure pleasu&#114&#101&#32as a result of either of the two packaged eyepiece&#115&#46&#32The craters are clear, and also the contrast is ex&#99&#101&#108lent. It also resolved the Andromeda galaxy fairly&#32&#119&#101ll in lower lighting away from the city. Just a qu&#105&#99&#107 pass by means of the arm with the Milky Way provi&#100&#101&#100 an awesome view of thousands of stars.

For even g&#114&#101&#97ter views of the brighter objects (Moon, Jupiter, &#83&#97&#116urn, along with the Andromeda galaxy) I use the Ce&#108&#101&#115tron Omni 2x Barlow Lens (1.25″) which effectively doubles the m&#97&#103&#110ification of any eyepiece. This is one of only two&#32&#66&#97rlow lenses that Celestron recommends for this sco&#112&#101&#32due to its short focal length. I was surprised by &#104&#111&#119 tiny light was lost when utilizing this barlow, a&#115&#32&#119ell as the views are even a lot more incredible.

Y&#111&#117&#32will find only a few complaints that I can muster.&#32&#84&#104e principal mirror is not adjustable, so collimati&#111&#110&#32on the optics isn’t effortlessly feasible. The eyepieces are ade&#113&#117&#97te, nevertheless you may well desire to invest is &#115&#111&#109e increased top quality Plossl eyepieces for easie&#114&#32&#118iewing.

All-in-all, you won’t find a much better telescope for t&#104&#101&#32cash ANYWHERE. I am accustomed to 6-10 inch telesc&#111&#112&#101s, and this tiny 3-inch blew my socks off. It stay&#115&#32&#105n my car nearly everywhere I go, and I’m not afraid to take it o&#117&#116&#32with crazy children all more than the place wantin&#103&#32&#116o look by way of it. My wife loves it, my niece an&#100&#32&#110ephew adore it, and admittedly..
.I love it. I can’t wait till m&#121&#32&#121oungsters get their introduction to astronomy with&#32&#116&#104is gem. Celestron really went out of their solutio&#110&#32&#116o create something unique. What a strategy to jump&#45&#115&#116art the minds of this upcoming generation!
